OHIO VALLEY RIVER CATS I was able to catch up with a few of the teams after the tournament and get some of their techniques:2007 CATFISH TOURAMENT SEPTEMBER 8, 2007 Mainly the fish were caught drift fishing in either 38-42 ft of water or 55-60 foot. The majority of the fish were caught on Skipjack whole. While some were on cut shad. the big fish was caught on a whole skipjack. Another technique that was used by a few other teams was to anchor up in a pocket out of the wind in about 35 feet of water and fished skipjack and shad. That technique paid off well for those teams as well. We at the OVRC would like to thank all of the participants in this years event. Without you this even would not have been nearly the success that it was. We hope everyone had a good time. And we hope you all come back next year and bring your friends. The tournament next year will be more than likely the first weekend after Labor Day. We just have not decided if we want to make it a two day event. thank you again. ***Local Teams hit it big at Rising Sun 09-08-07***
Congratulations to Scott W. & Don E. for winning the Rising Sun tournament. Besting over 88 boats with 100.85 lbs..and bringing in the purse of $2600.00. Congratulations also goes to Shep, Hawkeye & Dave F with 59 lbs. for 5th place winning $456.00. This was a great standing for our local club. Way to go!
